Introducing the Infinity Eight Aka-Tamenuri Red, a sculptural fountain pen born from a cross-continental collaboration between Belgium and Japan. Designed and engineered in my workshop, the Infinity Eight embodies a bold, structured design language defined by faceted geometry and architectural precision.

For this edition, the pen is meticulously finished in traditional Aka-Tamenuri Urushi by a Japanese Urushi master. The result is a deep red surface with layered warmth and remarkable depth. Over time, and with exposure to light, Urushi generally becomes slightly lighter and more translucent—a very slow and natural evolution that enhances the character of the pen.

Key Features

Material:

The pen body is precision-crafted in Belgium from premium Japanese Ebonite and high-grade resins, selected for their stability, durability, and structural integrity.

It is then sent to Japan for the traditional Urushi process. Aka-Tamenuri is a layered lacquer technique in which translucent red Urushi is applied over a darker base. As the lacquer matures and is exposed to light over the years, it gradually becomes slightly lighter and more transparent—revealing greater depth and subtle tonal complexity.

Each Urushi finish is applied by hand in multiple layers, cured slowly in controlled humidity, and polished to a deep, organic glow. Due to this entirely manual process, every piece is unique.

Nib:

Equipped with a high-quality Jowo No.6 steel nib, manufactured in Germany for a smooth, reliable, and expressive writing experience. The nib is engraved with the Wet&Wise logo and is available in multiple sizes to suit your writing style.

Design:

The Infinity Eight is defined by its distinctive octagonal architecture. Along the length of the pen, the eight-sided geometry incorporates a subtle rotational twist. This controlled torsion creates a dynamic visual flow, preventing the form from feeling static or overly mechanical.

Visually, the gentle twist enhances the interaction between light and surface—each facet reflects light at slightly different angles, amplifying the depth and movement of the Aka-Tamenuri lacquer.

Functionally, the faceted and subtly twisted structure improves grip orientation, provides natural tactile feedback, and prevents the pen from rolling on flat surfaces—without aggressive edges.
